Container Lashing-1 (Material)

Tension Lever Binder:
Tension lever binder or senhouse slip is used for quick lashing providing tension on the lashing material. The advantage being fast securing and quick release in emergency.

The hooks placed in the links after pulling them together as close as possible. After the lever is operated the gap between the two hooks is reduced from B to C.

Automatic Twist-lock Single Cable:
This type of twist lock can be placed between containers in stack and slot into corner casting. It can be fitted ashore and it automatically locks into the lower container when placed on top. It is easier to determine whether it is locked or not when compared to manual twist lock.

Bottom Twist-lock:
This device is commonly used to stack and lock ISO containers.

Double Cone Twist-lock:
This twist-lock helps guarding against accidental dislodgement from the corner fitting during loading and unloading operations. Normally, it is hot dipped galvanised with stainless steel internal mechanisms.

Single and Double Stacking Cone:
Placed between containers in a stack and slot into corner casting. Resists horizontal forces. Many types exist. Double stacker cones resist the tensile and compressive stress between athwart ship containers.

C Hooks & J Hooks:
C hooks & J hooks are forged used for gripping a product into it from one place to another. They are very powerful & this is the reason they are used for handling large equipment. These hooks require very low maintenance.

D Ring:
D ring is D shaped ring used for holding or lifting heavy materials. D ring is highly sturdy, has a reliable service life and is cost effective.

Lashing Plate:
Lashing plate is welded on deck, preferably on the strengthened part so that it can withstand heavy stress passed on by ropes, chains or rods.

Elephant Foot:
Elephant foot is a container lashing equipment. Made from quality raw material it is used for lifting, holding and supporting containers. Elephant foot is very strong and has a long service life due to its resistance to high impact, resistance and corrosion.

Eye Foot:
Has high tensile strength & resistant to chemicals and corrosion, has a long life. It is used for holding and lifting containers. Has a high dimensional accuracy and high finish.

Single and Double Foundation Shoes:
These are welded on strengthened areas of deck. The load on deck is transmitted to ship structured through container base fittings which are sleeved into the shoes. When the containers are off loaded, the base cones are removed and put in store. In order that the sleeves of shoes are not damaged, a blank plate is inserted in a non container voyage.

Mid-Lock:
Mid-lock is placed between containers in a stack, and slots into corner castings. It is used on deck between 20-foot containers, in 40-foot bays at mid-bay position. Resists lateral and separation forces. Fitted to underside of container on shore and automatically locks into lower container when placed on board.

Turnbuckle:
A turnbuckle or bottlescrew is a device for adjusting the tension or length of wire ropes, lashing rods and other tensioning systems. It normally consists of two threaded eyelets; one screwed into each end of a small metal loop, one with a left-hand thread and the other with a right-hand thread. The tension can be adjusted by rotating the loop, which causes both eyelets to be screwed in or out simultaneously, without twisting the eyelets or attached cables. The slack of wire rope is reduced as much as possible with the eyelets as far as possible. The slack is then removed by further tightening the bottlescrew.

Bottom Stackers:
Bottom stackers normally, are cast or high tensile steel with galvanised finish. It fits in the socket provided on deck or may have arrangement to slide in the sleeve on foundation shoe that is welded on deck.

Container Bridge Fitting:
Container Bridge fitting or clamp directly connects the containers, placed transversely and sometimes longitudinally. This fittings help transmission of both, tension and compression. The fittings are also available to transversely connect two containers with the height differences of six inches.

Single and Double Raised Container Foundation:
Raised or Box foundations are welded on deck permanently at appropriate locations to accommodate standard sized containers.

Single, Double and Quadruple Flush Container Foundations:
These fittings are nearly flushed to deck level. The deck remains unobstructed to walk or to load any other deck cargo.

Lashing Bars:
One end of the lashing bar is hooked on to the corner casting. The other end is hooked on to a chain or the loop of wire rope, which are further tightened by binders or turnbuckles. They are available in different length for different locations.

Buttress:
Buttresses are used to provide external support for container stacks in a hold. They resist compressive and tensile forces. These must be used in conjunction with higher strength double stacking cones or link plates and must be aligned with side support structure.
