Parametric Rolling is a relatively new concept as far as the stability of the ship is concerned. For ages, the mariner's were content with the behaviour of the ship in static sea conditions. The effect of the crest and trough of a wave which is approximately equal to the length of the ship was not appreciated till there were considerable losses caused to the new generation container ships. The video is for the guidance of Masters and Mates to understand the devastating effect of such waves and situations which may favour large Parametric roll.
